Stella S: Day 8, Vermont ~ NBTSC 2024

Hello, it’s me Stella, coming to you live from the airplane home! Day 8 was our last full day of camp  🙁 and also cleanup day! With a lot of people coming off the late-night high of prom/the presidential debate, it was a great day to sleep in. And when we got up there were CINNAMON BUNS for breakfast!! I don’t have a photo of the cinnamon buns but they looked something like this.

At morning meeting Christian and the Vermont Vibes committee announced that we’d be burying a time capsule under the deck to be opened in five years and that they’d be collecting items throughout the day. After that we had our last advisee in which we all went around the room and said things we appreciated about each member of our advisee, it was a beautiful note to end on and it made the looming end of camp feel a little bit lighter.

I don’t remember what we had for lunch. I literally couldn’t tell you but I do know that later that afternoon we split off in various groups to cleeeeaaaannnn!! I can’t speak for everyone but I know my cabin felt weird having all that floor space. When we were done cleaning a small group of people went down to the lake to say one final goodbye to it (it was pretty).

We ate dinner. I don’t remember what it was, I literally couldn’t tell you. Then in a shocking turn of events, during evening meeting Harry revealed that all along he’d been plotting to take over camp and turn us into a cult *gasp*! as it turned out Harry had been spiking all the staff seltzers with acid!! He had conditioned Christian to start singing whenever he said LAKE DAY and he’d gotten the whole junior staff on his side! Luckily the Culminati were able to stop him and shove a “pie” in his face!

The next thing on the roster was closing ceremony. We all went around the room and said our intentions for the next year, the Culminators gave beautiful speeches, and there was a lot of hugging. That would be a lovely note to end the blog post on, but that’s not how the night ended…No no no… We STAYED UP ALL NIGHT, SLEPT ON THE FLOOR, SIGNED EACH OTHERS DIRECTORIES FOR HOURS, AND ATE LEMON CAKE. A good time was had by all (probably).
