What a great session we had for 2023 NBTSC. Camp Myrtlewood was its usual dreamy paradise self. The weather was great. The smoke stayed away for the most part. The creek was full and refreshing. The staff seemed like a dream team and the campers were delightful. So many workshops and panels and conversations and talents and crafts and knowledge was shared. Friendships were forged and renewed. The Advisors advised and kept their Advisees happy and content. The Mama Bears kept us healthy. Magic happened.
I expect most people have made it home and are done traveling, although some of our campers from Oregon are headed to Vermont now. I’m still working my way home from the Pacific Northwest after spending decompression time with staff and campers in Eugene and Portland, and family in Seattle. While I love my two weeks of sleeping in a tent at Camp, I’ll be happy to be home with my partner, my comfy bed, and cozy home.
I’m missing so many people right now and hope to see many of them again this time next year. Or, if not at camp, I’m hoping our paths will cross in the future. One of the things that Camp teaches us is to value the connections we make there and to take that home with us and continue to nurture them. I’ve said goodbye to the creek and the climbing tree and the tea stump and other manifestations of this beloved camp for another year.
