Some highlights of my day were…
My advisee group met in the creek today! First we talked about how our days went yesterday, then we played a game called creek seat (AKA hot seat) where we asked each other a bunch of random rapid-fire questions, and then just hung out and swam for a while.
Then I did my superhero job of making iced tea, which disappeared in an instant because god damn has it been hot recently! Shoutout to Marley and Jack being the best tea-making colleagues.
My first workshop of the day was a portrait workshop with Skye. We got to run around and take pretty pictures together in front of the trees and all of the lovely scenery. I’m not a photographer, so for the most part I modeled but did end up taking a few pics myself. See below.
Another workshop I attended was a creator spotlight with Christian. We sprawled out on the couches in Forest Dell and watched a YouTube video that discussed social media and trends, among other things, and afterwards we talked about our thoughts on it. I found it all quite fascinating, although the exhaustion was setting in a bit from having a couple of busy days beforehand.
In the late afternoon we did the Cabin Olympics, which is a competition to see who can get their cabin the neatest and most entertaining. My cabin chose a birthday party theme and I had a great time decorating and putting on a show for the judges. Some themes that other cabins did were pirates, horror house, and western saloon. We almost won but probably half of why was how much we bribed them with cupcakes, haha. See a selfie I took during that event below.
Finally, for the evening event we did trust circle. Essentially we all stood in a circle in the lodge, and staff read out prompts one at a time like “I identify as queer or gay” or “My parents are divorced” or “I am brave”, and if you identified with a statement, you would step into the middle of the circle and look around at who else shared that experience with you. I found this exercise interesting; it definitely brought some emotions up for me that I want to explore further.
Thanks for reading.
