Camp is an intense experience to say the least. I’ve cried every day so far and I’ll probably continue that streak if I’m being completely honest. I have had my highest highs and my lowest lows at this place. So, it’s completely fitting that I’m writing a blog post about it just like I did my first year.
Day four was a rest day, which means we get an extra hour of sleep and so sleep we all did. Along with being a culminate and on creation circle, I am also a work trader, which means my days are a tad bit different. I have a dish pit worktrade so on that day I had to be in the kitchen from 10:30 – 11:30 washing, you guessed it! Dishes. After that there’s a slew of mandatory things like check in and meeting and then advisee. Personally, advisee is one of my favorite times of the day. I am with the one and only Blake Boles this year. As usual, we did check ins. And played hot seat.
After advisee we have an hour of free time on rest days, I spent some great time with some of my closest friends before lunch. I ended up completely missing lunch because of said conversations and I also rescheduled my second worktrade shift so I could give my friends some support. There happens to be a lot of that at camp.
The day ended with dinner, check in, community meeting and then the highlight of the evening: the film fest. I showed four short films from my time at a film camp two weeks ago and they were a hit if I do say myself. My night went in a downward spiral after that… you remember when said I had some low lows? This was one of them. I was super, super anxious and out of it so it was my turn to receive some support. I eventually had to go back to the kitchen and finished my work trade, where I ended my day how it began, crying, laughing, loving, conversing and doing the dishes.
